The sequel to the outstandingly successful Far from the Rowan Tree, the story of the Gillies family's brave migration to Canada in the 1950s. This book takes up the story in their return to Scotland, to life on a farm on the Carse of Gowrie. Margaret Gillies Brown writes simply and movingly about the ebb and flow of life as a farmer's wife with eventually seven children.

Margaret Gillies Brown is the mother of Ron Gillies who started Cairn o' Mohr with Judith in 1987.
